Privacy Policy
How ARK Charts and the ARK Charts Wipe Bot handle your data. Last updated 27 July 2026.
The short version
ARK Charts is a free, unofficial fan site run by one person. You can browse all of it without an account and without giving us anything. If you make an account or subscribe to wipe alerts, we keep the minimum needed to deliver them. We do not sell your data, run ad networks, or use third-party tracking cookies. Visit counts are recorded against a hash of your IP address that changes every day — the address itself is never written to disk.
Who this covers
This policy applies to arkcharts.com (and ark-serverlist.com, which redirects to it) and to the ARK Charts Wipe Bot Discord application.
It does not cover the ARK servers listed on the site, Discord itself, or any individual server owner's Discord community — those are run by other people under their own rules. ARK Charts is not affiliated with Studio Wildcard, Snail Games, or Discord.
What we collect
If you only browse the site, we do not ask for anything and you are not identified. We record:
- A daily visit count: the date plus a shortened SHA-256 hash of your IP address, salted with that day's date. Because the salt changes every day, the hashes cannot be linked from one day to the next, and the raw address is never stored.
- Interaction counts: one of six fixed UI actions (tab switch, cluster click, server click, platform switch, sort change, time range) with an optional short label such as a cluster name, recorded against that same daily hash.
- If enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics — cookieless and aggregate, collected by Cloudflare rather than by us.
If you create an account, we store your email address, your username (which is shown publicly on comments), your account creation date, and either a bcrypt hash of your password or nothing at all if you use the emailed sign-in code. If you sign in with Discord we receive and store your Discord user ID and username, using only the `identify` and `email` scopes. Sign-in codes are stored hashed and expire within minutes.
If you subscribe to wipe alerts, we store the delivery email address, which clusters and platforms you subscribed to, how far ahead you want reminding, and a record that a given reminder was sent so you do not receive it twice. Email is the only way we send alerts — we do not send SMS and do not ask for a phone number.
If you like or comment, we store the like against your account, or against a random identifier generated in your browser if you are signed out. Comments store their text, your username, and a timestamp, and are shown publicly.
What we store in your browser
| Name | What it is | Why | How long |
|---|
| ark_token | Your sign-in token | Keeps you signed in | 365 days, or until you log out |
| ark_anon_id | A random identifier containing no personal data | Remembers which things you liked when signed out | Until you clear site data |
| oauth_state | A random value (the only cookie we set) | Prevents forged sign-in requests during Discord login | A few minutes |
We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
The ARK Charts Wipe Bot
The bot reads wipe-announcement channels in ARK server owners' Discord communities so their upcoming wipes can appear as countdowns on the site. It is read-only.
- It joins a Discord server only when someone with Manage Server permission invites it.
- It reads only the specific channels an ARK Charts admin has selected for that server. Every other channel is ignored.
- It requests two permissions: View Channels and Read Message History. It cannot post, send DMs, moderate, or read anyone's direct messages.
- From a watched channel it stores the message ID, a link to the message, the author's display name, the message text (first 2000 characters), and timestamps.
- That message text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract wipe dates. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its commercial API.
- Extracted times are reviewed by a human ARK Charts admin before any countdown appears on the site.
If you post in a channel that a server's staff have connected to ARK Charts, your message text and display name may be stored and processed as described above. That connection is made by that server's own staff, not by you and not by us.
A server owner can remove the bot at any time from their Discord server settings, which stops all reading immediately. To also have the stored messages deleted, email [email protected] from an address we can tie to the server, or ask us in that Discord.
Who else sees your data
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|
| Discord | Sign-in requests; the bot's reads of watched channels | Discord login and the wipe bot |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | The text of messages in watched channels | Extracting wipe dates from announcements |
| Google (Gmail SMTP) | Your email address and the message | Sending alerts and sign-in codes |
| Cloudflare | Your IP address, as any CDN or host sees it | Serving the site, DDoS protection, aggregate analytics |
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
What we never collect
- Phone numbers — alerts are email only.
- Payment details — nothing on the site costs money.
- Precise location.
- Your ARK game account, in-game activity, or anything from inside the game.
- Direct messages, on Discord or anywhere else.
How long we keep it
- Account details and alert settings: until you delete them or ask us to.
- Likes and comments: until they are deleted.
- Visit and interaction counts: kept indefinitely in the pseudonymous daily-hash form described above.
- Sign-in and verification codes: minutes.
- Announcements collected by the bot: kept as a review and audit trail, and deleted on request from the server's owner.
- Server population history: automatically pruned after 90 days. This is game data about servers, not about people.
Your choices
- Every alert email carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works without signing in.
- You can remove individual alert subscriptions, likes, and comments from the site at any time.
- For account deletion, or a copy of what we hold about you, email [email protected]. There is no self-serve delete button yet — ask and it gets done by hand.
- Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or object to the processing of your data. Ask and we will honour it; we will not make you jump through hoops.
Children
Discord requires its users to be at least 13, and older in some countries. ARK Charts is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page, and any material change will also be announced on the site.
